Brand new Shift website launched
The brand new website for Shift Linux, a Linux distribution created and maintained by Neowin members, has been launched, with a brand new design, new features, and increased efficiency.
The website has been in the works for several months, and we are very proud of what has been produced. The design was done by our very own Max Bélanger, and coding was done by Dave Legg and Simon Andrews. The website has been recoded from the ground up; everything is new, but based on the content from our old database.
New features include multiple uploads for the Shift Art Center, a theme for the Wiki that unifies it with the rest of the site, a screenshots page, more logical navigation, an AJAX powered downloads page, and a 100% integrated website. Everything was built using a plugin-based framework, so all of the pieces fit together to create a seamless integration between different parts of the site. The site is also much more efficient, taking under a second to generate, and shows up very quickly on the users screen as a result.
